Modes of Animation

The title of my final project is going to be called One Minute Until The End of the World! I want to make 1 minute short film with three separate storyline about Aliens coming to Earth and destroying the planet with their UFO's and the humans fighting back ultimately destroying the planet. The UFO's will be flying around different landscapes and be destroying famous monuments and cities. The humans are fighting back with jet planes and human made giant robots. Captain Rod is in his jet fighting UFO's with is transformer like robot. On the Moon there are two astronauts in a space station watching the battle from outer space. They get a television message from the president to fire the Atomic missiles. The two astronauts push buttons and load up the moon cannon and aim it the mother ship that is hovering very close to the planet. It flies out of the cannon and towards earth. The guy and girl astronauts watch out the window as they watch the missiles slowly travel towards the planet. The mother ship that the astronauts just fired at is the same mother ship that the captain and the robot are fighting. The Captain sees he is out of ammo and gets hit and then looks up to see the missile coming toward the ship and so he decides to crash it into the ship as well. The Captain closes his eyes and both the missile and the jet crash into the mother ship to see it explode and then whites out the frame. There is a white flash that breaks the planet apart and a white light comes towards the astronauts on the moon. They are destroyed and then the Title fades up.

I know this is allot of detailed and crazy things to all be in one short film but I think this is all possible with using after effects, and Photoshop and good storyboarding and art design. I plan on making this a music video with techno created by my friend David who makes his own music. I think his style of music will complement the fast passed music. I have talked to Ivan and we said that I could work with him and use his green screen studio he built in his house. I want the look to be similar to Tron. I want to break down the video sequences in final cut pro and stylize them with Photoshop affects and add actions to each picture similar to the rotoscope project. In the space station I want a blue and red light to be flickering and the characters will be all hued to colors like the animated gif assignment. This will allow me to add visual rhythm to my video and help the song better into the sequences. I will also video the pilots head and use After Affects to layer him into a jet background I will make in Photoshop. I am going to find alien comic graphics and use those images of UFO's to make a model that I will use in my video. Because there is three plot lines running through this I can really break every scene down and focus on making each piece of the picture just right. I wont have long sequences of animation that will make it too difficult. I want to really focus on the moon sequences with the astronauts because I will be using live action. I am going to make backgrounds in Photoshop combining different layers to make compositions in after effects that can be altered and parented to other graphics. It will be hard but if i can pull this story off then i think it can be really great!
